305 to 350 swap
i have an 84 z28. T5 tranny. i am swapping 305 H.O. engine for a brand new 350 gm crate. could anyone tell me what will and what won't bolt up to the new engine? (like bell housing, harmonic balancer, starter, etc.)

To my knowledge all the parts you list will bolt up fine cause both the 305 and 350 are chevy small blocks. Which means pretty much all parts are capable. Now if you were swapping from a v-6 to a 350 that is a whole nother animal. but going from one small block to another you wont have any fitting problems.

I had both pipes run down the center on the car. As in a straight line straight from the headers under the the tranny crossmember. Ground clearance sucks. I would suggest against doing true duals as a matter of fact I am getting shorty headers and I am gonna run a single 3" pipe in stock location out into a hooker aerochamber cat back.
Here is a pic of where my mufflers sit...
Here is a pic of a setup some what like mine...

Example.
My LT1 should put out about 340 Torque. My T-5 is a NWC so it's probably only good for 275 torque .... SOOO I expect my tranny to go quickly.
Where as a 700R4 would last longer.

ok, well to be specific, i found as i was taking the bolts out of the bell housing from the engine (305) that i had only six bolts to take out. As i looked at my new 350 from gm i found that i have seven holes for bolts in that area. I haven't taken the engine out yet, so i was wondering if you guys would know if the bolt pattern is still similar or not?
Where does the seventh hole located.
should only be 6 see picture below, this is my T-5 from my 85 305 so older style block
it mounted perfect to my 96 LT1 block

thank you very much, that picture did the trick. i now know exactly what the deal is. if you look right in the center of your picture. there is a blank space where the looks like there could be a hole in the top of the bell housing. that is where there is a hole in the 350 block i have, but not in the housing for my t5. but i see now that it doesn't matter because the other six holes will match.
once again, thank you very much for the assistance.
