Getting the entire TPI engine, harness, exhaust, computer, fuel tank (at least the fuel pump), and everything associated with the TPI engine that's different from the TBI would probably set you back again as much as you paid for the car. It would be a decent improvement, though.
Improving that would probably be cheaper than trying to improve the TBI engine/system as-is.

i have a 90 rallysport camaro thats in showroom condition, its equiped with the TBI. i think its a great set up, its simple, efficiant,
and very easy to work on. but you would only get maybe a 5-10 hp difference. you could do a few things to the tbi to get that.

TBI 350 rated at 170ish HP
TPI 305 rated at 205ish HP
TPI 350 rated at 240ish HP
Personally, if I was you I wouldn't bother spending the money to go from a 305 TBI to a 305 TPI. I'd save my money a get a 350 TPI for probably around $100 more than a 305 TPI will cost you. THAT would be worth the hassle and expense of what you are trying to do, and would give you the best "bang" for your buck.

Not sure what it would cost, but the 305 and 350 block is supposed to be the same. Supposedly, you can just bore out the 305 and turn it into a 350 - if you're going to build the whole engine anyway, you might want to do some research on that. Since you've already got two blocks, might be the cheapest way to go at this point. Don't know if it'll work, but if it was me I'd check it out.

The 305 cannot be bored out to a 350. It can be bored, at best, .060 over. That makes roughly 315, I think. The 350 and 305 share the same stroke (3.48). YOu can stroke the 305 to 334, but you will spend as much as you would on a 383, so why bother? Get rid of both of them and get a 350.

The 350 still sounds like the best route to me. Time to sell the 305's??!!

'87-up have the roller cam and one-piece rear main seal. If possible, I'd try to maintain that.
