Is it possible, or that difficult to put a diesel engine in a 3rd gen?

Probably no harder than it would be to put any other engine into a thirdgen. A lot of it would depend on which diesel you picked.

There are just as many diesel egnines out there as there are gas engines. What do you want to use. It will be a custom swap that will cost an arm and a leg. Why do you want a diesel engine?

I was just curious to know. We had talked about bio-diesal made from vegetable oil in class a few days ago, and so I was just curious about it. Not something I'd probably do, but just out of curiousity's sake.

Yeah diesels will burn just about anything. In a pinch you can run a diesel on its own crankcase oil.

what would you do once you start runnin low on that fuel
but anyway i have thought about that type of thing before, nothing i would ever do though, but it would be cool as an exhibition vehicle for biodiesel at farm shows around here they have a dodge ram that runs on biodiesel and i think a third gen with a duramax would be way cooler

turbo diesel + propane injection + 4,500+ lb truck = low 11second daily driver with 40+mpg.

just imagine what it could do in a thousand pound lighter car.

The old 6.2 diesel would probably be fairly easy to get in the car as it is based on the chevy big block.

7.3 Powerstroke + Banks Six shooter in highest modem = 400hp 700 lb ft torque.

Normal modem 225 hp 520 lb ft torque = 21-25 mpg.

78-85 oldsmobile 5.7L diesel would go in the easiest but the exhaust and fuel system and starting and charging systems wiring issues, bellhouisng bolt pattern problems, gotta have another battery on board,

the olds 350 diesle was an olds 350 gas engine but with different heads and piston so that it could have 22:1 compression, and a different starter too,

also diesel auto trans converters were not the same as gas ones, they have different stall speed altogether,
not good for a gas engine

find this engine in caprices and olds and buicks and wagons 78-up

ive had a few, one was an 83 capprice 4 door built in canada, i had to scrap it cuz someone ruined wiring and fuel system trying to convert it to chevy 350

thats the cause of scrap/shredder death of most all GM RWD 78-85 diesel 5.7L cars.

ppl who think they can convert something that really cant or shouldnt

good luck
