'91 305 TPI to 350 TPI
'91 305 TPI to 350 TPI
I have a '91 Z28 with a 305 TPI and a 5 speed manual transmission. I want to convert it to a 350 TPI and a 6 speed. I have SLP Stn'ls St'l headers that I want to keep. In fact, I want to keep as much as I can. I will still use the car on the street but would like it to be fairly strong. Esp. along side those Mustangs. I know nothing about doing this so I need as musc detail as possible. A couple of my friends told me to come here and place a post - said this is where the wizards live.

Welcome aboard.
The 305 -> 350 isn't so much an engine swap as it is an engine change. The TPI-ness is covered often on this board, but the best place for that info is the TPI forum.
The transmission is a Transmission and Drivetrain forum question. You'd be better served there.
SLP may or may not know about their headers and a T56 in a 3rd gen, you might as well give them a shout. Or, check the Exhaust forum.
Enjoy.

Hey, I have a L98 short block I'm selling! It'd be great to go along the lines of your swap..
Five7kid is right though...it's not really a swap, it's just taking a bigger bore block and sticking it in there. All the stuff from the Lb9 will change over to the L98...as far as induction goes that is. You'll probably have to get bigger injectors, and some tuning, but it'd be relatively easy to do.
On the header part...if you have shorties you're ok, but longtubes are a different story with a manual trans. Worst case scenario, you bolt up the trans...the header hits, you take it to an exhaust shop and they cut the collector back to it clears the trans, no biggie. Good luck to ya.
