at risk of being laughed out of TGO

I can already hear "get a 350" and "do it yourself"
http://advance-auto1932quality.cross...toreid=2370190

No price is listed

But do you think it'd be a good swap for lazy people?

Might be, might not be... they are pretty vauge about what parts they used. If its built with quality parts and the machinework is good, then its prolly good.

I didnt see the specs to see what size engine, etc. But, if you are going to take one out and put one in, why note a 350?

I used to work at Grand auto and all the engines that you can order from a regular old parts store are crap.I'm sure there are a few out there that are ok but if I were you and just wanted a replacement engine I would go through like gm goodwrench.

I'm trying to think cheap.( I know you get what you pay for).

Im looking for a drop and go replacment.I figured another L03 would drop in with little fuss(not changing ecm etc.).Also,someone told me Advanced would accept my old L03 as a core as long as I get the same thing.

AnywayI'd much prefer a 350 crate of some sort. But an impending divorce limits my funds at this point.

As far 350 go,Goodwrench has this http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/123/...ate-Engine.htm

Could I keep my TBI ?Could I transfer my current 305 mods(intake, cam) ?If I could do this and only rechip the ecm I may get it.

Why not get this engine:

http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...71&prmenbr=361

Only mod you'd have to make to get it to bolt in is elongate the center 4 intake bolt holes to bolt the intake to the heads (takes 30min and a file).

The engine will run fine with 305 ecm, and 305 injectors. It will just run quite lean at WOT and have a lot less power than it should.

The Caprice crate is a better choice than the Goodwrench 350. Not only are the intake manifold bolts at a different angle, the flexplate is different. The Caprice crate has a roller cam. The Caprice crate has center bolt valve covers. The Caprice crate comes with the harmonic damper. (I believe the Caprice crate also has PM rods.) Add it all up, the lower price of the Goodwrench crate ends up costing just as much, and you have a lesser product.

The 350 TBI swap is discussed often on the TBI board. Using the 350 TBI supporting cast is highly recommended.

Ah, forgot that it was a roller cam block, that would make it worth the money in itself. Afriend of mine got a replacement motor for his '90 Sierra locally. It was a roller block but they put in a flat tappet cam. And then at 20k all of a sudden he lost oil pressure since the place messed up the main bearings, and when he called for warranty the place is out of business. I wouldn't trust a locally built "replacement" motor, but you know the goodwrench one will be good.
