Found a nice engine...
ok i got a letter in my mailbox(school mailbox, i'm an office worker...) today from something around the school district called a Shop 'n Swap..
Here were the adds i was interested in...
Its from a couple cleaning out their garage...
Chevy 305, 2bbl motor and tranny, from a 78 Monte Carlo, under 42k original miles, ran great, complete with alt, A/c etc, $250 obo....
GM turbo 400 long tailshaft transmission. fits Buick/old/pontiac/cadialc.$25...
Good dela or what, what are the stats on those old 305's thats a cheap low mileage motor that i could just swap my TPi to so.... yeah.. am i correct?

"Nice engine" is not how I'd describe that. The motor is crap. It's far less motor than your existing one. It's less than a LG4. It's one of those things where if somebody was about to give me one, I might allow him to pay me not to shoot him for littering on my property with hazardous waste, if he offered me enough. I sure as hell wouldn't pay even a dime for it.
The transmission won't bolt to a Chevrolet motor, unless it happens to be one of those "uni-case" ones; which for $25, I seriously doubt.
All in all, basically worthless.
If you survive to adulthood, you will eventually be given many opportunities to learn a basic lesson of human nature; which is that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Hopefully, learning it won't be too costly to you. Nowhere is that more true than in used cars and car parts.
