Good Combo?

I am thinking of buying a motor from a guy. What do you all think? Heres some info. Its a freshly rebuilt 350, bored .030 over. It has Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, Crane roller rockers, a custom grind cam from Crane .501 lift, polished Edelbrock performer RPM Airgap intake, Performer 750 carb, headers for a 3rd gen (not sure which ones), chrome valve covers, waterpump, and all the brackets and such.
What kind of numbers should this combo put out guys?

The chrome is going to be the biggest contributor, you know...

Seriously, too many unknowns. "Custom grind" itself means it's impossible to even take a stab - does he have a cam card?

The carb will be okay for peak power, but will give up some ground to a double pumper on the way up.

Whether it is a "good" combo really depends upon the intended usage.

On the cam issue, he said it is close to the specs that Edelbrock recommends with their cams to complement the heads. He heard bad things about the Edelbrock cams, so he ordered a custom grind from Crane with the same specs, and a little more lift. He has all of his receits and everything, so ill look them over and get the exact specs on it. Anyway, this is intended to sit in front of my T-5. Its more or less a weekend cruiser/drag once a while. This is something that i'd like to eventually run mid 12s with slicks and a 100 shot of nitrous. The exhaust will be headers into true 3in. duals. No cats, dual electric cut-outs and flowmasters. The rear end is the piece that im still not sure about. But do you all think this motor will fit my needs? I dont think i could build anything close for the money ($1800).

Sounds like a decent price for what it sounds like is in it.

However, expecting a T5 to live behind it may be expecting too much. Some guys have gotten them to live in fairly fast cars, but they had to baby them. Others had them explode very early in slower cars.

Its a 1990 RS, so i assume it has the World Class T-5. It holds a little more power. The thing im most worried about is launching it with slicks.

i think the 100 shot is going to push that T-5 off the cliff.

you would be fine with the engine and slicks, there is a guy in our club with a T-5 that ran at fontana and pulled 12.56 a few weeks back. but yes he only hammers on it when needed. his engine is probably making more power than the engine you are talking about. but in all honesty, slicks, + 100 shot on that engine, and the engine is probably about a 290hp NA already.. i think you're going to need a T-56.

speaking of which i have in my car, i went with McLeod. they off a t-56 that is just awesome. uses the T-5 bellhousing, comes with an adapter plate, correct speedo gear, better gear ratios than the LT1 AND it doesnt use the crappy pull type clutch that the LT1 uses. i got mine for 2200 directly from McLeod. its basically a swap in deal, except for the needing a new trans mount and taking 1" off the drive shaft and torque arm. just something to think about

I am all for the t-56. Thats what i really wanted, a 6 speed. I just cant afford it. Maybe down the road when the t-5 does blow up.

depending on what size rockers, cam, and how well you can dial in your carb.. i say 290-305,

because it doesnt look like your heads are ported or have bigger valves, need the cam specs too, to see what kind it is. are the pistons flat tops or dished? whats the compression?

300hp or so NET sounds about right, but like he said, depends on cam/compression etc. That said, with stickies, good gear, and 100 shot you should be able to powershift your way deep into the 12s.

If the tranny holds.

And the rear.
