that looks amazing!!! How much did the complete swap cost...i'm thinking abotu doing a LS1 swap this winter, but I kinda want the 6 speed instead of the auto..do you regret the auto or do you wish you had gotten the 6 speed??? Because it looks like you can get the engine with the auto about a grand cheaper than with the 6 speed, so i'm tryin to wiegh my options...

The $wap was not cheap. I purchaced the engine, trans and rearend packege in Nov of 02. Since then the cost has come down quite a bit. I have not followed the prices lately, however these are good examples of what a low mile setup will cost you.
Auto:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...936743137&rd=1
Manual:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...936746332&rd=1
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...936998470&rd=1
The mounts are now available from a vendor on this site (spohn.) I would figure around 700 for harness and PCM programming and 1500 for misc stuff like exhaust, etc.
I do not regret going auto. I actually had a manual setup picked out but it would have had added additional cost to the conversion. Also autos are easier on the drivetrain and body. I spent the savings on mods
Here is a picture of my setup:

I had it done at speartech in the fall of 02. The engine mounts had to be custom fabricated because there were no aftermarket solutions at the time. I would have done it myself if the mounts were available at the time. Interestingly enough the company that supplied the raw materials (plates and u straps) for the mounts now markets them. In fact the only real difference is that mine are not powder coated.
I did all of the other work myself. The car actually has lowering springs in the front. The front came up 3/4" because of the 150lb diet. I am planning new wheels for the spring. Any suggestions?

thanks for the guess but i'd like to know exactly. speartech wants $1,400 to have a harness that puts it there. if that is in fact where it is and they did it then i'd like to know that's how it's going to look. if he did it then i'd like to know how he did it.

I do not drive the car as much as I use to. The power is unreal. It does not have as much low end grunt as the Formula 350 I had. However the torque converter more than makes up for it. I just need to get use to more tip in. If feels like getting shot out of a rocket. The car is entirely different. Also the power keeps building and building when the RPMs climb. I am not use to that as well as the 6500 redline. The economy is excellent and handeling is improved because of all the weight I shed.
Now I am trying to find a good body shop to strip and repaint for a reasonable price.

Thank you! Not ready for the track yet. Right now I can not afford to break it. I still would like to upgrade the brakes and put a stronger rearend in it. The Speartech car in similar configuration ran mid to high 11s. I suspect I am in the high 11/low 12 range.

Its looking good man. I'll have to get some more recent pics of mine one of these days.
Luckily for me when I did this the mounts were availible... but there was no way in hell that I was gonna pay speartech that kind of money, so I ended up modifying the stock wires. That was fun. I should have taken pics of that process...

i made my own hole.
hawks uses a existing hole that the AC air door vac line goes thru.
i think it looks cleaner in its own hole... others are timid about such a permanent mod.... its upto you.
