engine change

I have a 85 T/A with 305TPI and am changing to a 350 with the same TPI setup. My question is what changes have to be made to the ECM, sensors, etc....... any help would be greatly appreciated this site has helped me with lots of different issues. Thanks

Yes they are a lot different. They have just as many differences as conpaired to any 350 head made. What they do share is compatability, what they don't share is performance (with some excpetions). The differences are the same as any 87 or later head. Centerbolt valve covers and self alligning valve train are just the basics. Both can be used on gen I motors. Even though they can be used on basically any motor there are certain atributes that make one head better than another. If you don't go aftermarket, or vortec, there is no use on using any other head than the 350 TPI (083) ones on your 350 TPI.

Shifty, his TPI is an '85 version. So, it won't have the 72 degree bolt angle on the center two base bolts.

To be honest with you, I don't know what the pre-'87 "good" casting numbers are. However, the 113 aluminum Vette/ZZ4 heads would bolt right to that base.
