should i get a new cam?

Car: 86 iroc. white.
Engine: goodwrench 350 (stock for now)
Transmission: monster trans 700r4
Axle/Gears: 2.73 ( want 3.73s , gimme a holla)
should i get a new cam?

my question is would it be good to get a new , more aggressive cam, my friend with a firebird said i should just replace the cam off the bat.

Transmission: 4L80E/4L80E
Axle/Gears: 12B-3.73/9"-3.89
The cam it comes with is about as much as the heads can handle.
Want a better deal? Get a 350 shortblock, like http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/514/...e-Assembly.htm . Take your heads and have 1.94" intake valves installed, do the basic do-it-yourself porting job, have the guides cut for positive-type valve seals, use good, new springs when you put them back together. Then get a "more aggressive cam" for that.
