Anyone ever pulled their motor w/headers still attached?
I'm not new at all to engine work and I've pulled my share of Mustang engines but 3rd gens are new to me. Anyway, I just installed a set of new Hedman headers (non-smog) and the passenger side was a bitch to get on, had to go from underneath the car. Deep down I really know the answer to the question but I have seen some pics around here of peeps removing and replacing their motors with the headers attached to the motor. I just dont want to remove them, or mabey I could just unbolt them from the heads and pull the motor from there?
BTW, I was trying to install a new intake manifold and apparently there was a leak around the gaskets because the manifold bolt on the front was rusted in the head and broke on me. I'm sure I can tap it out but I think a 350 is better suited.
The car is an 84' T/A w the 305.

I installed my engine with the Hooker 2055 shorties attached (but not the y-pipe). Tilt sling made it easier.
I'll be pulling it for the 350 shortblock in the near future. Plan is to keep them attached as it comes out. Spark plugs are easier to install, too, while the engine is out...

I haven't, however, pulled engine and transmission together with the headers installed. That's actually the plan for this go-round.

With a load leveler, doubt its hard at all. I pull the engine with the headers on out without one. Took a little longer (about 15 minutes) but piece of cake. If I used my load leveler, would have been done much faster. Pull it with the headers on and save your self some trouble.

Cool!!! I figured it was possible, but that one passenger side header had to be installed underneath the car so I wasent sure about a pull. I DO have a load leveler and the tranny will be comming out and back in with the motor.
So what about the motor going back in? Headers came out with them, so it should go back in?
Thanks for all the good info guys!
