LT-1 Questions
I know that these questions have been asked before but i did a seach and couldnt find them. I am putting the LT1 in tomarrow and was looking over the engine and was noticing that the egr valve is blocked off along with the air tube that goes to the exhaust manifoilds. Is there anything that I need to do so that the engine runs right. and also there is evaporator canister control switch on the pass side that has a plug and 2 vac. lines that are supose to go some were. My question is do i need this part or can i eliminate it and just cap the vac. line on the manifold. the one on my 92 just needs a vac. line ran to it witch will be easy if thats all i need to do. I hope this makes since any help will be be appriciated. thanks
1. Your car will run fine without EGR. Get it if you feel its necessary.
2. You can remove it and cap it off if you don't have a visual emissions check. If you do, either pull the identical solenoid off the charcoal canister and use the manifold mounted on, or do the reverse.
3. '95 is OBDI with an OBDII ASDL connector

well, you're going to need to keep one of the control solenoids, doesn't matter which one, you'll just have to extend the electrical connector if you keep the one on the canister.
not sure what you mean by "and this computer will work the same as my 92?"

as far as the engine wiring, you don't HAVE to remove it, it just gets it all out of the way and cleans up the engine compartment since you don't need it anymore. Basically, once you have all of the LT1 wiring in and the splices made that you need to, I get rid of the old wiring anyway you can. I'd leave any bulkhead connectors inplace and just cut away the wires no longer needed. if for any reason you think you'll ever need them again, just leave enough to be able to splice back onto.
