Ramjet 430HP for only 6500?

Ok I have done some research including posting on here. I have decided to put in a 350 Ramjet in my car this summer. I am going to port the heads and put in a LT4 hot cam. I am gonna use a TPI ECM (nicely donated by a friend of mine). With this I will be around 430HP. This will cost me about 6500$ including the motor. Do you think this is a good idea?? Should I do something differently?

My insperation for the project:

if I were you on I would use that money on an LT1 swap. You could easily have the same power if not more for less money.

Do they make LT1 crate engines? I couldn't find one. I would like a brand new motor.

You can buy new LT1 shortblocks from many different places. You could also buy a $500-$1000 core and have it rebuilt better than it comes stock. Pick up a copy of GM high tech performance and visit some of the sites that the advertisers list in the back. There are many places to guy Gen II and III crates.

I rather not build from the block up. Do you have a link to a LT1 crate?

Well if you buy a shotblock you only have to add a top end (heads, cam and intake). All of which can be re-used from a core. There are no turn key LT1 crate engines that I am aware of. Most people spec out a shortblock and then add a top end to it. The same goes for LS1 swaps as well. If you plan on porting the heads of a ram jet you will do the same amount of work to complete an LT1/LS1/TPI shortblock.

Here are a few links to places to that sell gen II and III shortblocks.

MTI
Texas Speed and Performance
Sgoggin Dickey
Golen Engine Service
Nu-Tek Motorsports (best LT1 engine site but it has been down under construction for a long time now)

Don't do it...that way my setup stays rare

BTW, I didn't pay near that for mine and I even went the long way about it. But my heads aren't ported either, and probably don't need to be from what I've read about porting Vortecs.

If you click the link in my original post you can see what I am trying to do. I am just gonna pust a little more HP out of it. They actualy talk about the 430 ramjet in the artical.

"On the other hand, we have heard rumors of an aluminum-head RamJet 430 in the future of this Camaro. It promises all the driveability and ease of fitment that the current Mouse possesses but with even more power (an additional 80 horsepower!) and none of the packaging headaches of the big Rat. Sounds like things at GM Performance Parts are about to get even more interesting.
"

In other words I want my cam to be drivable and have a reasonable gas milage but have the power when I want it. Later on I am going to try to look into maybe having a control system on the ECU. Basicaly a economy position and a "holy *beep*" position.

Put the above shortblock with some trick flow heads and a 224-230 comp roller cam and you will hit your goal for cheaper than $6500.

If you need to pass smog, the Ramjet presents a problem.

If you already have TPI you can keep your current computer, wiring, distributor, and all and save a lot of money over buying the create engine. There is a thread in the TPI section with all the part numbers. The intake and everything is like $700.

The ramjet create makes 350 Hp with a very small cam and stock vortec iron heads. If you put a pair of fastburns or E-techs and a bigger cam you can easily make over 400hp.

from what I have read in the past, you can't tune the Ram Jet motor. It is a plug and play system only.
