buick roadmaster lt1

what are the differences in wiring for a buick roadmaster lt1 as opposed to z28/ta lt1s? will the 5 speed from my car bolt up to the lt1(for temporary use)? and does the oil pan need to be changed to fit the f-body? thanks.

Its basically the same engine, but has cast iron cylinder heads instead. The oil pan will fit.
Also note that although I never saw one in a Roadmaster, many Caprices had the L99 4.3 V8 which looks just like the LT1. So make sure its the 5.7 Liter.

The wiring is very similar only being different as far as accesory hook up....the accesories are located different on an f-body Lt1 as opposed to the b-body lt1 you have. I believe I posted up in the Lt1 wiring thread about connectors (can't remember for sure, it was a long time ago). It is basically the same motor as a 9C1 Caprice (Police Package), an Imapala SS (the real one from '94-'96 before Bob Lutz ruined that too ), and some Cadi's from that era (can't remember exactly which ones though. There may be more info on that particular configuration over at www.theherd.com

If it's not up there, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

good question. I never looked to see if the crank was bored for the pilot bushing. Chevrolet usually bores all their cranks but all these iron headed LT1's were put in front of automatics. That T5 probably won't hold up too long anyway.

Tons of B-body enthusiasts are putting T-56's behind their LT1's, so I would imagine a T-5 will work just fine.
