LT1/T56 into 92 tpi 5 speed...small questions

ok i have some small questions, i know i need an a/c delete pulley for an LT1 car, 93 camaro radiator hoses, need the fuel lines, power steering lines, reservoir, LT1 vats module, LT1 throttle cable, 3 port AFPR i have already, my questions are am i going to be running 2 ecu's or is the 730 ecm getting deleted all together? and which connections will be getting spliced...drivers side bulk connector and the plug near the ecm for the accessories?...i believe right now is a clear and blue connector? also i will still need the buffer box, correct? and does anyone have pics of how they modified the power steering? i want it to look like it came that way from the factory...basically...im currently looking for a 94-95 LT1/T56 setup as soon as i come across one with either the right mods or right mileage...final question is i want to run an XR 276 cam with head porting, polishing, and multi angle valve job, where do i obtain a chip tuned for it? or ill even run a cc306...not picky about the cam as long as i can find the right tune for the cam....thanks alot..

What your doing is taking your connector on the drivers side firewall and splicing allllll of those wires into the lt1 harness. Thats basically all your doing. You will not be using the 730ECM anymore.

You can get away with using the AC if you want to have air in the car, only have to modify the passenger side motor mount (unless you use a Vette LT1) and the crossmember to clear the compressor (I have mine cleared without even heating it up, just banging it in with a very large ballpin hammer). As Pasky said, all the wiring for the gauges will be spliced into the bulkhead connector. If you can find someone who can do it, since you have an 86 model car and don't have VATS in the car, have it and the EGR programmed out of the computer. The LT1 PCM is different from the ECM in your car now and you actually program the computer, not put a chip in it so you will either have to have the LT1 wiring harness modified with a diag connector, or splice into the connector under the dash. I would suggest buying the radiator and fan setup as well since it makes it a whole lot easier to hook up the hoses. For the fans, if you send off the harness to be modified, the place doing it should be able to set it up to use the LT1 fans as well (the guy I bought my LT1 from knows the guy at LT1350.com very well and recommended him. As for the buffer box, I haven't gotten a clear answer for it, but you are using a mechanical speedo with the car being an 86 model so you will run into one obstacle right there like I did. Fuel lines I actually made myself using the ends off my original hard lines and splicing them into some new lines I bought and put the quick disconnect lines into it. As for the power steering lines, you'll just have to get some new ones made up, that's one of the last obstacles I have right now and mine will be finished, more than likely I will use the original hard line that went all the way across my radiator frame (since it was a V6 car) and tie into it. I have alot of install pictures I took while putting mine in that I can send you if you're interested.

Ahh ok, I noticed your name, sorry about that. All in all, I have probably about 50 or some odd hours on it, mainly because I only work on it on the weekends but wanting to get everything done right and I had to wire a dash from a T/A with an electric speedo in the car as well. The place I bought my engine from is Tennessee auto and he handles only 4th gen cars (LT1 and LS1 cars) and gave me what I thought was a good deal on the setup I have. Probably the biggest thing for me was cutting the hole in the tranny tunnel to get the shifter to go through. I also used the 4th gen pedals in mine instead of the third gen which mounted right up. The only other thing I can think about is, you will want to dump the factory manifolds since they won't mate up to the 3rd gen y-pipe and put headers on and get a header/y-pipe from the same company that way you are guaranteed a good fit. SLP, Edelbrock, Hedman are the three that I can think of. I put the Hedman's on mine, but then again I have no use for ceramic coated headers right now and saved about 100 bucks on the D-port shorties, all I had to do was drill and weld the O2 bungs in. Not for sure about milage engines in NJ, but I actually consider mine low milage engine since it just turned over 100k before the guy bought the car to part out and all I had to do was put new gaskets on it, from what I 've been told by some people who have LT1 4th gen cars they leak around the intake, and keep leaking, that's why alot kill the EGR and put block off plates on.

Anymore questions feel free to ask, that's what we're here for.

yea i have all the bolt ons now...its a 13 second car but i want the 6 speed...and get rid of the 305...the LT1 is an easy engine to find with lower mileage....and im going to spray it with heads and cam so it should be quick enough for my liking....have SLP headers, dual cats and catback, holley 255lph fuel pump, every bit of upgraded suspension except i have to sell my chromoly torque arm and get the same torque arm for the T56...everything else i have to off basically....

Does the torque arm use the stock mount you currently have? If your car is a 92, it should be the same as mine and bolt right up to the T56 without any problems.

i can say that 350lt1.com is a very good company thats who did my harness and was well worth the money that was spent on it. I used a vats module to get the engine started but i have just sent my computer to a guy i found on the internet that will bypass vats egr smog pump and shift points and performance mods to computer for 75.00 well worth it in my book. was going to buy the lt1 edit program but this was a better deal for know. here is the link to the guy i am using.
