LT1 Swap
looking into LT1 swap and i was wondering...does the painless harness come with the sensors??? what the hell are VATS.. ? and is it true i can use the intake off of a 6.0 chevy truck to produce more HP/ Torque? And ..... what will i have to do when putting in a manual trans!?
Painless = No sensors...just WIRING
VATS = Vehicle Anti Theft Security....the little "Chip" on your key gives a resistance to wires on the ignition column that a VATS box decodes and gives the "ok" to the ecm/pcm to "Enable" fuel. To make the swap easier, just disable VATS on the LT1 pcm, and be done w/ it.

eh...i still don't have em'.....but my engine has been swaped before....when did they switch to a serpentine belt?
1. Dont even consider doing an LT1 swap if you want to keep TPI on it.
2. No, a 6.0L truck intake will not work, this is not an LS1.
3. Manual trans is easy. If you are doing T-56, you'll need a new crossmember and some way to hook up the speedo if you have a mechanical one.

Best thing to do is find a complete setup with motor/tranny, accessories and the PCM, then either find someone with LT1 edit, or PCM4Less to program out the VATS in it, or send off the PCM to someone to have it taken out. Remember the LT1 heads and intake will not work on a standard 350 block and standard heads and intakes for 350s will not work on an LT1 due to the reverse cooling, and as far as I know, nobody makes an aftermarket intake for the LT1 other than GMPP and it's the LT4 intake.

I got a set of stock iron and stock aluminum LT1 heads, pick your poison, i'll let either go for $175 + shipping. The irons flow about 5% better than the aluminum but weigh about 30 lb's more.
