Don't you hate doing that to headers?

I had to do the same thing to the #5 on the 396 in the '57. Seems to run okay in spite of it.

I have heard of several members using them, but had never seen a picture of #5. Had no idea they came like that.

You'd think there has to be a better way to do it, but I'm sure it would be more expensive to manufacture.

Hey ckeene502, glad to see you're going through with your swap. I see you bought the Hookers. Looks good!! What size BB are you going to end up with?

Boo.

thanks, i am building a 454, but i also am building a 400 sbc that i might play with. i am trying to find a t-10 set up for it now of go with a gforce t-5. i wish i would have bought the headders you picked but i had already bought mine. the hookers fit well. did not have to use the hammer too much.

We'll see just how good my headers work when I go to put an exhaust system on it. I will still probably have to route it to the outside like the Hookers do.
Are you going to run a fiberglass cowl hood?

Boo.

yup...pin on prob.
i was wanting the side exhaust . so they will work fine for me. it was kind of a pain to hold the headders and lower the engine by myself. i had bungee cords holding them up hanging from the strut mount.

I just put the Hooker 2226's in with the engine in the car. That was no picnic. The passenge side absolutely sucked while the drivers side was quite easy.

With the slip tube out I still didn't seem to have enough room to slide the header up into position. The number 4 tube would hit the k-member before the back could go up. I ended up pushing a little crease into the firewall to allow the back of the flange to clear the firewall.

I guess it wasn't all that bad but the instructions left a little to be desired.
