im looking to swap a 350 in for my 4cyl. are the engine mounts different or could i just get the ones with the engine and drop it in? or would i simply be better off getting rolling body that had a V8 and putting an engine in that?

What kind of 350 are you wanting to put in?
I'm not too familiar with those 4cyl cars so I'm not sure what else you need to change over. But you defiantly need new motor mounts, trans, computer, wiring, etc etc. I'm not sure about the rear or anything else. Hopefully someone who knows more about this can give you more information.
It all comes down to what kind of budget you are working with. Some cases it would be cheaper and easier to just sell your car and buy another third gen with a 350 already in it...

With GM's "legendary" interchangability, it'll probably fit right in to the engine compartment, but I'm about 99.999999% certain the transmission will not match up.

This is the same swap I eventually want to do with my Duke: 4 banger --> Goodwrench crate motor. I'll also have to do a tranny swap, but can't decide between another manual or vert to a 700R4 or TH350. If you do yours soon, 4banger82 , keep us posted. Maybe you can be the "giunea pig" and I can learn from you.

If you swapped a T-5 from an 83 TA then that should fit. That IS a V8 bellhousing because the only engine that came in an 83 TA was the 305 V8. One thing to keep in mind is that the clutch is hydraulic on 84 and up and not on the 83.
