2.8 to 4.3

Car: '89 Firebird XS
Engine: 2.8l MPI
Transmission: auto 4 speed
ok i have a 89 firebird with a weenie 2.8l in it and i have a 4.3tpi motor in the garage and im thinking about changing it (oh i also have a 700r4 from a 90 van) im wondering what kinda of modifacations i would have to make other then the correct motor mounts.

It's basically a V6 to SBC swap with some twists.

Hmmm, you're right. Something about the period, I think, that messes with the mind of the search function.
I don't recall the details, but I believe the engine mounts are not the same dimension from bellhousing to mount bosses as the standard SBC. Of course, they're different from the 60 degree and 90 degree V6's, as well. So, some fabrication is required.
If I recall correctly, that is. I've never had a 4.3, so everything is from what I've seen/heard around here.
Exhaust will be 100% custom until you get it to the stock cat location. After that, you can use standard 3rd gen aftermarket stuff.
The good news is the bellhousing is the same pattern as the standard Chevy V8. At least, that's good news to some.
