Ok i finaly got my engine and trany in. I will be rewireing my engine. I got everything pretymuch figured out but i am lost with the distrubutor. I have a HEI with an accel super coil. I understand all the coil and tack wireing but my distributor has 2 plugs that come out the left side that i have no idea what they do.

Do you mean the distributor itself has two plugs, or the distributor cap?

The dristributor itself has plugs coming off of it.

If your q-jet is non-computer controlled, you need a vacuum/mechanical advance distributor to go with it.

If your q-jet is computer controlled, one of the connectors goes up to the cap, and the other to the wiring harness on the firewall.

Something tells me you have a mis-match of parts. A q-jet is not a q-jet is not a q-jet, and an HEI is not an HEI is not an HEI.

You probably want non-computer controlled equipment (guessing, since your car is an '89 in which no carbs were available), so make sure that's what you end up with.

Well the engine came out of a early 80s truck. It was running with a non cc q-jet. The distrubutor has vacume advance on it that is why i am confused. I thought you only needed to hook up the vacume advance and the power to the coil. I will get my friends camera and take a picture of it later on if it helps.
