What 350s swap in?

Okay I am probally gonna pick up the 91RS 305TBI 700R4 that I have been talkin about.

Waht motors will swap in? I would probally wanna get a carbed 350 just bc it will be easy to put in right?

What motors will connect up to the 700R4?

I wanna build a 13 second car so im guessing 350 Carb would do me good!

I know someone that has a 350 for sale..needs a rebuild..not sure if its complete or not and on year yet.

If I did stay TBI would the 305 stuff bolt up?

Jay

anything will bolt up to the 700r4, all except an LS1. So whatever you get your hands on is good to go. i have a real nice 383 forsale, $6500, made 540hp on the dyno, pump gas, great street motor. PM for details.

Any 350 is a good 350, compared to the 305. Any 350 will bolt up to the 305 TBI 700R4 tranny. I have a 1969 block in mine. All the accessories will reattach with no problem, as long as the motor you get has accessory holes in the heads to mount accessories (ie PS pump, Alt.). Someone else will have to chime in, but I think most all heads from 1970 and up have acc holes.

Just about any other SBC motor will bolt up to the 700R4 - may need adapters here and there (I don't know much about 383's, crate motors, etc. - the expensive goods).

Always verify blocks, heads, and cranks with casting numbers on used goods - you could wind up with just about anything otherwise - there's no way to tell a 305 from a 307, from a 327, from a 350, from a .... without casting numbers. The beauty of SBC is that almost everything is interchangable, but it's also a pitfall if not paying attention. Example - a 350 crank/rods/pistons will fit into a large journal 327 block, and although for all intensive purposes it's a 350 now, technically it's still a 327 block - very usable, and will have 350 cubes, but not what you thought. For heads, search posts for numbers of better and worse ones - the 1970's heads had large chambers, which means low compression, which means less power. The #416 305 heads many are using 'cause they are cheap, easily ported to make decent flow numbers, and maintain higher compressions than the smog heads.

There's nothing you can do with a 305 that would make you half as happy as a 350 would (unless your wallet is still really thick after the $3 a gallon gas you'll be buying this weekend). Know that whatever you can do to a 305, you can still do to a 350 - it's all SBC - and cubes count more in the end than anything else, whether you just want a fun street ride, or a track demon.
