82 Z-28/305 TBI to 350 TPI

Hey All,

Recently bought an 82 Z-28 and would like to swap out the 305 TBI to a 350 TPI Engine. I've done some research and have found that there seems to be different types of 350's depending on the type of fuel system i.e carb,tbi or tpi. I plan on a crate engine and I'm trying to fiqure out if I have to get a engine specific for the tpi.

I have just written back on this type of swap. In a nutshell, fuel pump swap ( if your car is TBI), fuel lines from the engine bay (factory TPI lines or AN make your own), wiring harness from painless and a TPI system with a crate engine or a ramjet.

Axle/Gears: ford 8.8 3.73 ? 3.23
I just finished swapping a 91 TBI 350 for a 91 TPI 350 ...what a mission!!!!!! you have to take the wiring harness/ ECM from the donor car that has the TPI take the gas tank if you can it has the fuel pump ya need your fuel lines in the engine bay should bolt up to eachother (not sure what the other guy is saying) if you had a TBI in it the TPI fuel rail feeds should bolt up. Im still working out some kinks ........... the tach went crazy reads about 3500 at idle( im wondering if its sending a funky signal to the ECM to make the car burn richer) and when i plug the tranny electronic speed sensor in and put it in drive it dies or if i hold the brake and punch the gas the car acts like it has a rev limiter so i unplugged it and the car runs ok but agian i wonder if it is sending the wrong signal to the ECM ??????? The car used to be a 5 speed i put a 700r4 from a 90 1500 had it rebuilt. good luck Damian
