385 .. should i go auto or stick

for a 385 with 425 hp should I stay with a stick and buy the Tremec T56 or should I find a TH350
What would be the smarter choice with the power. Personally I would like to stay with the manual

What do you mean by smarter choice? If you are bracket racing, I would go with the slushbox (not that a stick can't be competitive). If you will be driving in traffic with a cup of coffee and a cell phone, I would go with the slushbox. If you want to have fun, I would go with the stick. Obviously, this is just my opinion.... If you were referring to power output and being hard on parts, I would certainly make sure that I had better axles before bolting on slicks. It has been my experience that the 7.5" 26 spline axles are only good for a few hard launches with a clutch car and slicks.

either a T56 or a TH350 would be good choices, that 10 bolt rear end won't last very long with sticky tires with either setup though.

If you race for money, use the slush box, if you just drive on the street then the stick is the only way to go. In my opinion no type of sporty car should even have an auto as an option, autos are for wimps.

I wouldnt say that auto's are for wimps, its all in the intended use. I love driving stick, and wouldnt trade it for anything...unless I was to build a bracket race ONLY car.
