Just to let you all know, I started working on my Iron Duke to V-8 "conversion" today. I need to finish disconnecting the wiring harness and then I'll be ready to jack up the car and start dismantling everything underneath in preparation for the pull. I'll be using a crate engine from a 76 Impala, which is still in the car, so I have 2 pulls to perform. By the way, where is the torque arm mounted on a V8 car, drivers or passenger side? It's on the passenger side on my car, so I may have to go aftermarket, or get ladder bars if unable to switch sides.

The torque arm is mounted on the driver's side of the rear end, and all 3rd gen rear ends are of the same external design. Are you sure you aren't just swapping sides of the car in your mind while you're under the car on your back?

LOL, that's highly possible! I'll know more this weekend when I jack er up and start on the bottom end. My weekend doesn't start till Sunday though so I have 4 days before I can get back at it.

Are you going to keep the 4-speed, or go auto?
(Is this "Spudland" Idaho, or Ireland?)

I'll be converting to auto, I have 2 TH-350s in pieces and another one in the car I'm getting the engine from. At least that's the plan anyway. "Spudland" is Idaho, about 30 miles north of Boise.

You'll need a torque arm mount bracket. There are torque-arm-mount capable 350 tailshaft housings out there, but they're pretty rare. You'll want the 6" tailshaft transmission, in case any of the ones you have are 9" versions. Your 4-speed driveshaft will work with the 6" TH350.
Happened to have passed through Boise back in the end of August. I've been up I-15 many times, but this was my first time on I-84.

Thanks for the info about the driveshaft five7, that is something I've been wondering about. I have a Hurst torque arm adapter kit for the TH350, now I have to verify I have the sort tailshaft housing. With all the tranny parts around here, there's probably one I can use.
I used to be stationed up there in Cheyenne back in the early 80s in the AF, seems that's not too far from Littleton if I remember correctly.

About 120 miles or so.
Most TH350's were the short tailshaft version, and most of the longs were in trucks/vans, so your odds are good.
