Corvette L98 and 700R4 swap questions

I know the difference between the engine is the heads and egr but i would like to know what would need to be done to put an L98 and 700R4 from a 89 corvette into a 89 camaro? would it bee any different than a L98 and 700R4 combo from a camaro?
Thanks

The Vette TH700 will not have the torque arm mount provision on the tailshaft housing. You should be able to swap over your 3rd gen housing to the Vette tranny.

I have also heard that the Vette oil pan and pump pickup are different than 3rd gen, but I don't know that from personal experience. Again, swap over 3rd gen parts (assuming you have a V8 now - if not, you're going to have to find those parts).

thanks the reason im asking is because im going to purchase this item http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1989-...QQcmdZViewItem and i was hoping it would go in with not to much hassle. so it is infact a th700 not a 700r4?? ive never even heard of a th700?? ohhh and i do curently have a blown l98 in it right now, should i go foward with this or should i look for an engine from a fbody also with what you said how hard would it be to change the tranny housing?

Thanks

The engine oil pan and oil pump pickup from the Corvette won't work. You'll need the correct F-body parts. You'll need Camaro exhaust manifolds as well, the Corvette peices will not work. Otherwise, you're golden

"TH700" is an abbreviation for "TH700R-4", the proper designation for the transmission.

If you can handle the price of the Vette piece, go for it. Be sure to clean the f-body pan thoroughly before installing it on the Vette engine. A new oil pump would be a good idea while you're at it.
also with what you said how hard would it be to change the tranny housing?
Remove 4 bolts, slide the housing off each tranny, slide the f-body housing onto the Vette tranny, install and tighten 4 bolts.

sounds like an easy swap, but if you don't already have them, you should look into some hedders while you're at it! 2055s.

Anyone know the specs on the alum. L98 heads found on the vette. I'm looking for the size of the combustion chamber (in cc) and the intake & exhaust size (in cc). Thanks

58cc chambers, 165-ish CC intake runners, 60-ish CC exhaust.

Uh.....no!
The output shaft is also shorter, so changing the tail housing is not going to work.

My direct exposure to Vettes is admittedly limited. I wasn't aware that there were different TH700R-4 2WD lengths. Haven't seen that documented anywhere else.

If that's the case, the output shaft is the first thing that goes in from the front of the case.
