305 carbed to 350 tpi
Well I posted this same question on thirdgenusa.com, but I thought I would post it hear also. I was just wondering how hard it would be to replace my 305 carbed engine for a 350 tpi. Keeping in mind the owner b4 me rip the computer system off of the car, and left a mass of wires everywhere. Also how much would this swap cost? I’m sure ill have more questions later, but for now that’s I have….thx in advance guys…

It's easier to put another carbed engine in if you don't have the harness or fuel system for it , the cost would be right up there if you have to buy everything seperatly or even if you sourced a donor car to take the drivetrain out of complete with the fuel and wireing ...plus the fact the TPI is just not that good of a system in stock form you would be looking at $2500.00 worth of upgrades to get a TPI to make decent power and for that same amount you can build a carbed engine that will run circles around a TPI.. all smallblock engines are tha same fit wise so you aren't limited to just 305-350s 400 sbc and even big blocks will bolt to stock mounts and transmissions (auto) if you have a stick trans you will want to change it out for an auto if you go larger than a 305, as the T-5s won't hold over 300fpt with any reliability.. the choice is yours but if your car is carbed now it will be alot cheeper if you stick with a carb..
