bad vibration during accelration
bad vibration during accelration
I've searched the forums for an answer to this but could not find anything.
Well, The Camaro is running the best it has since the swap from a 305 to a 350. It still needs some fine tuning to smooth out the idle to where it should be. I'm going to take it to a shop that has a diagnostic computer so it can be fine tuned. I have it idling in park at about 1100rpms just so it won't die in gear. When it in gear it drops down to about 600 rpms.
However, a problem I noticed today was when cruising about 60mph when accelerating to maintain speed, it vibrates like crazy. I only happens when applying some acceleration. If I romp on it it pushes on thru the vibration.
Also, when cruising along at highway speed, it will every couple of seconds miss or stumble a little when aplying throttle to maintain speed. Could this be becuase I'm still running the 305 injectors instead of geting the 350 injectors? Or something else I'm not thinking about/
Anyway has anyone ever seen these issues before? And if so what corrective measures did you take?

before you take it to any shop, you need to get the right injectors in it, other wise they will be banging their heads against the wall trying to figure out whats wrong with it.
did you use the 305 knock sensor or did you put a 350 knock sensor in it? if you used the one from a 305, you need to change it too.

How can I be certain that the people at the parts store give me the 350 injectors instead of the 305 injectors? I had to almost argue with the guy yesterday that there was a difference between a 305 and 350 knock sensor.

it doesn't surprise me that he didn't know there is a difference between a 305 knock sensor & one for a 350.
is your car TBI or TPI? the injectors are color coded.
if its TPI, you probably will want to get a set of ford injectors, they are better than what GM used back when the third gen camaro was currently being made. you can find them online for less than what you will spend at the parts house or dealer.
if you have a TPI, i think the ford injectors you want are blue, but i don't know for certain, try a search in the board which applies to your car, either TBI or TPI.
if nothing comes up, ask which injectors you need.

It is TBI. I just bought some 350 injectors for it yesterday. Well see if that makes any difference. I don't think it will solve the problem though. I think I might still have something out of sink with the timing, or a vacum leak.
I have resolved all the trouble codes. The only ones I was getting were 23,33 and 43. resolved the MAP sensor and knock sensor issues and all I need to do is figure out a way to use the MAT sensor in my aftermarket air breather. I

I haven't swapped recently or anything, but my firebird has a bad shake around 50+ mph. It'll calm down if I give it gas, but once I let off the pedal it shudders and shakes like its coming apart. I have the 2.8L lookin to go to a V8, but in the meantime, what could be a solution to the problem?
Thanks

Have had this same problem twice, and I looked everywhere for vacuum leaks and everything else for weeks. Thought it might be the fuel pump or u-joints, but it turned out to be a burnt spark plug wire on the headers. So when it gets dark go out and start it up and look in your hood. If you see an arch near the bottom of the engine then it is a burnt up spark plug wire on the headers. I even put the car into the shop and they couldn't find anything and they're going to charge a s%*# load of money to look into the engine, so I took it home. Hope this is your problem, very cheap to the alternative.

I'll get back to ya on it. Thanks again.
