what engine do you have in there right now. As long as it is chevy the bolt pattern will be the same. Both SBC and BBC use same tranny to engine bolt pattern.

It would probably be more accurate to say any Chevy engine "can" be made to fit.
They aren't all direct bolt-ins (a wise person once said, "There's no such thing as a bolt-in.").
If you want details, you're going to have to narrow the scope of your question. People have asked about putting some pretty strange engines and transmissions in 3rd gens, some of them "Chevy". Some transmissions simply shouldn't be put behind some engines. But, to make blanket statements (such as you've already gotten) would not give any useful information.
To provide a complete answer to your question would take more time than is worth any member.
Be more specific. And, please, don't keep coming back with "another rock". Ask about engines & transmissions you have seriously considered, that are within your budget, and at least on the surface appear reasonable to consider.
FWIW, I recently read in PHR magazine about a guy putting a WWII tank engine into a 60's Mustang with a Powerglide behind it. Can it be made to work? Probably. Is it something that should be tried? Not in my mind. Is it worthwhile? Only for the "wow" factor (which often is borderline insanity).

From a stock 305? No, because as soon as you do anything to it, it's not stock anymore. 300 HP is possible from a modified 305 though, but it's easier to do with a 350.
