Has anyone used this cam?
I was just wondering if anyone had used this cam. For those who have, do you like it? How does it idle? I'll be using a 700r4 and a 2500 stall. Is it streetable?http://www.cranecams.com/index.php?s...81&lvl=2&prt=5

Re: Has anyone used this cam?
I already have this cam. I got all of my parts cheap. I don't have a stall yet. Should I run a stall if I am going to run it on the street? I was thinking maybe a 2500 stall, but I haven't bought one yet. What would happen if I used my factory convertor? I know these are probably stupid questions and I am going to get flamed for this, but this will be the first car that I have had that hasn't been stock. Thanks

Stock converter with that cam = absolute dog off the line.
2500 stall converter with that cam = somewhat less of a dog off the line.
3500 stall converter with that cam = pretty decent off the line, assuming the rest of the supporting cast is up to the task.

Re: Has anyone used this cam?
my friend ran a 278 dur 48/48 lift cam on his 305 600cfm edelbrock, tried to run with stock converter on 700r4 ..... HAHAHA, put a 2600 in it and it was good didnt seem to have power like it should of, maybe it was a tired motor or hap hazardly tuned, either way he burned a hunk out of the number 4cyl on it. alot of trans guy say only put a high of a stall as you need, crane's tech line will help you size up the proper stall speed, give them a call, also Jegs has a great tech center that can size you up also

A dyno plot is about the best way to choose a torque converter.
In my experience, the advertised cam powerband low end is always lower than the stall it takes to get good performance.
The 2nd best way to choose a torque converter is to start off with one you know stalls to low, and observe what RPM the engine power comes in.
