91 305 TBI - Changed into a 350 TPI! HELP!!!!

Ok so my weekend was eventful and i bought 3 cars!

*I got a 87 Iroc Z28 with a 350TPI that runs strong but body is a mess.
*I have a 91 RS with 92 z28 wing and hood. No motor but everything else is mint (So this is what i am building upon)
*And i bought my old camaro back for suspension parts and the rear! 373 Posi disc brakes.

What i plan to do is use the 91 body and put the 350TPI in it.
The 91 was a tbi and the harness is there but what to i have to do to get the 350TPI hooked up and running with the least trouble. Money doesn't matter. I read somewhere on here they make harnesses for the switch? Is that true?

Use the harness out of the '87. It unbolts from the passenger side kick-panel pass-through. Ditto for the ECM and harness that goes to it from the pass-through.

You'll need a TPI fuel pump in the tank.

Having a complete donor car is a major plus.

Yes I Heard It Is!.

The Motor Run Awesome In The Donar Car As Well So I Know Everything Is Good. To bad The Body is scrap...

So i have done harness switches and it isn't that bad.

So all i need to do is take the motor out fuel pump and lines and thats about it. Anyone else have detailed intructions. Also is my Setup MAF or Speed Density?

You don't need to change the fuel lines, just the ones from the hard lines on the frame to the engine itself. The fuel pump physically fits the same for either system, you just need one that puts out enough pressure for the TPI (some TBI pumps have been replaced with TPI pumps - works just fine, one less part to stock on the shelf - but the odds of that having been done on your car are not in your favor).

'87 TPI is MAF.

Re: 91 305 TBI - Changed into a 350 TPI! HELP!!!!

apperently the stock tbi fuel lines are the same as the tpi rubber lines

they have the same part #s well at lest on my car and they seem to hold up to the pressure from a tpi fuel pump
be safe a make sure yours has the tpi lines but sofar this is the 3rd car ive seen with tpi high pressure lines on a tbi would make sense being that all the lines are the same langth and the v6 and tpi use the same lines so it would have been cost effective for gm to just use high pressure lines on all cars

My exposure to the swap was a buddy who took a '90 RS and made a '91 SD 350 TPI out of it. He replaced the rubber fuel lines, but he was a bit **** and may have done it out of general principles rather than need. He didn't have a donor car, and re-pinned the TBI harness - a move he now says wasn't too smart.

I'm not sure how VATS is going to respond to the change. You may have to disable it (see the Tech Articles linked from the thirdgen.org homepage).
