Will this be a good combo?
I've been looking for a new engine the past few days since my 350 decided to call it quits. I want to ditch the stock TPI setup but keep fuel injection so I have been considering using the First Injection System. As for an engine the ZZ383 has caught my eye. Will this combo go well together and make for a quick and painless engine swap? Also, is there a better, perhaps cheaper equivalent to the ZZ383 that one of you guys would recommend?
I have a pro-built 700r4 transmission with a 2800 stall Edge 9.5 in. torque converter. I also have a 4th gen aluminum driveshaft and the 3.23 posi rear.
Thanks for your help!!

Heard it mentioned on here before.. as far as I know its some TPI like system.. heres a link I found comparing its plenum to a standard TPI plenium.. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/atta...s-first-plenum

Here's a link to their website: http://www.firstfuelinjection.com/products.htm
I'm thinking that with the computer and custom prom, installation should be pretty much be straight forward...

I guess I'm not seeing what they're offering for what they charge. Looks like TPI stuff, with no indication of power band, flow capacity (other than runner diameter), etc. Maybe I'm just missing it.
I would never use a dual pattern intake on a Vortec-style head. Vortec-specific or nothing.
For the 5400 RPM peak HP of the ZZ383, I'd go with a better system than the typical TPI base/runners/plenum. Miniram would be first on my list. Super and Steath Ram would be okay, but not quite as good.

Re: Will this be a good combo?
I was actually thinking of using the ZZ383 partial crate engine part# 12498332 with a good set of heads and a nice cam. I'm unsure though what to go with though because I want the setup to go well the 2800 stall. A 2800 will work well with an engine making 400hp or just a bit over, is that about right? As for the brand I was thinking AFR or Dart Pro Comp 1. 180cc seems about right but would probably still put me past this horsepower range.
I could definately use some help in this area....
As for the First Injection intake I remembered it from an article I read somewhere a long time ago. Those involved were getting good numbers with it. It would be great to hear firsthand for someone on here who has one....

Re: Will this be a good combo?
I had considered the ZZ383 package for quite a while, Has the Fastburn (vortec) aluminum heads. A slightly more agggresive cam and the Vortec HSR would make a good combo. What turned me off was the hyper- pistons, but if you don't intend to spray it can be a very effective (fun) package. If you want the package minus heads, consider the E-tec 200's.

Re: Will this be a good combo?
Well, I have a major update, and a bit scary one (for me) at that. I've decided to build my own 383 stroker motor from the ground up. I do know a good deal about the mechanics of a car, but in my own eyes I still consider myself quite the novice. I could sure use some of the knowledgeable mind on here to walk me through this.
First things first - I need a shopping list! I plan on using the Gm Performance ZZ383 bare block as the foundation for the build:http://store.summitracing.com/partde...6&autoview=sku Might as well throw in the pic:
It's getting late and I plan on going to the bank first thing tomorrow to transfer some money to my checking so I can get this underway. I would love to hear your thoughts about what parts I should include in this build. Your preferred brands as well. A checklist would be a great help. I have some ideas and a sheet full of part numbers which I'll post here tomorrow. Thanks in advance for any advice/help, Josh.

Oh, I forgot to add that I don't want to build anything to crazy. I'm thinking right around 450hp at the most. Streetable and pump gas driven.
