v6 frame with v8 engine

ive heard that the v6 frame is not as strong as the frame from the v8. Does anybody know if this is true or not?

Not.

V8's sometimes have little corner braces between the front crossmember and frame rail that the V6's don't have, and sway bars that are beefier.

But, other than that, the frames are identical. All of them, without exception, need subframe connectors.

They probably started putting them in everything, but my '82 V6 car did not. I only knew it existed because the '86 V8 donor car had them. The holes for the self-tapping bolts were even there on the '82.

But, the short answer is, the frames themselves are the same.

Might even be covered in the V6-V8 sticky (if it isn't, it will be ).

Re: v6 frame with v8 engine

Mine "had" the corner braces but they were removed when I installed a tubular k-member. The BBC has no problems sitting in the frame. OK, I guess it's really sitting on the frame since I use a front motor plate that's bolted to the top of the frame rails.

Technically, third gens don't really have any sort of frame. The front frame rails are really multiple layers of sheet metal all spot welded to the main body of the car. Same for the rear frame rails. A third gen has no real front or rear frame rail structure like in a first or second gen. The entire body and framework are all just sheetmetal. Structurally, all the third gens have identical frameworks.
