Unless you have some sort of sentimental value in your car, sell it and buy a V8 car. If you're asking what needs to be done to swap from a V6 to a V8 you might be in over your head already

Re: 3.1 to 5.7 swap!
It all depends on which "5.7" you are planning on installing.
If you want a thirdgen thats reasonably fast, runs great and is pretty easy to work on, swap it to an LT1, if you've got the extra money go for an LSx, if you just want to say you have a V8 and dont want to go very fast and want a headache / backache when working on your car, follow codename's advice and get a factory V8 thirdgen.

It depends on if you want to go fuel injected or carberated. Its pretty easy to pull the engine and trans out and drop in a 350 and v8 trans of your choice and slap a non cc carb on. Only real issue is emissions testing..

That statement means you might be in over your head. There's difference between someone whose ready to do it and someone who isn't ready to undertake a project like this. If you would have said, "is it time consuming" or "expensive" that's a different story. Anyone who is really fluent with cars and engines knows that things aren't "hard". It's a matter of time and money.
Not trying to pick on you guy,
Just trying to help you out. Go get a V8 car! Find a decent IROC or Z28, unless your current car has sentimental value.
There is quite a lot involved with a V6 to V8 swap. I think there is a sticky somewhere explaining it.

Okay, I'm not one of the aholes on this site that says "do a search" for every obscure topic that comes up, and I know the search function on this site isn't the greatest, but dude...
Do a search.
As the former owner of a 91 3.1 Firebird, I can tell you that there is FAR more info on this topic than you can shake a literal or figurative stick at.

What say we start with, "Read the sticky in the top section of this forum."
It's title says, "Read before posting new."
If you haven't read that sticky yet, you shouldn't be posting about it yet.

Re: 3.1 to 5.7 swap!
This is what i meant by hard. i have a very busy schedule and was wondering timewise... i have replaced motors before... have replaced tranny before also... not in this car, in others. nothing is "hard" unless your an idiot. the thing i was wondering about is like, will i need to swap my tranny? also, do i have to swap out my front suspension... things like that but i think that i'm just gonna buy an iroc or a z28 and go from there... i wanna go fast but dont have the time or money.
Re: 3.1 to 5.7 swap!
just cause your a mod dosnt mean you can get smart. i know this is true... but if you read my statement... "i'm just gonna find a good iroc or z-28" so... yea... everyone else on here has been polite and at least TRIED to help... but you got to get an attitude wit everything you say.

It can't hurt to read it over to understand the differences, as the knowledge can come in handy when you least expect it.
Don't confuse an attitude with trying to make a point.
