Help Will this work i ma not sure

will the engine from this 1985 surburban http://raleigh.craigslist.org/car/555429136.html
fit in my 89 formula?

it is a 454, that is why it stuck out to me haha. i am guessing i could rebuild the motor, to be pretty damn powerful, but would it fit, and if it could fit waht would i need to to to make a swap?
other then the obvious factors like coutom fuel lines, ps lines, tranny,

A 454 is a big block Chevrolet engine, aka "BBC".

Read the BBC sticky in the top section of this forum.

well orginally i was goingto swap a lt1 in to my firebird, but i came acroos this 454, and there is no replace ment for displace ment, i was tihnking if i put a nice set of heads, a mild cam, a 750 cfm carb, and a single or dual plain intake manifold, i coud lhave a pretty banging motor haha, vrs a lt 350, ya kno

The bigger engine comes at the price of taking up more space and weighing more. Using aluminum heads would help on the weight a little. The swap would be more challenging than an LT1 swap. Handling and fuel economy would be reduced. Your vBGarage says an LSx swap is in the future, did you change your mind about that?

You'd want a dual plane intake with a mild cam.

As far as difficulty and expense, I'd rank them LT1/BBC/LS1. With regard to long-term results with power, economy, driveability, and handling, I'd call it LS1/LT1/BBC.

ok aha, yea i will do an lsx some day, i ot big plans for that. but the lt1 yea is cheaper, and it is a more efficent motor then the lo3 i got haha. so i think i will stick with the lt1 swap. umm so u know of any place that you would recommend to look for a lt1 and 4l60e combo or hell a lt1 t56 combo

eBay, craigslist, racingjunk are the typical sources. I found my LS1/T56 on eBay.
