i got a 91 350 block with 99 vortec heads ported out... got the motor put together and started it up for about two minutes then i cut it off ok..... and then my push rods got bent up and some of them snaped...any ideas what i can do?
Sounds like the valves hit the pistons or the rockers are not designed for extra lift. Tear it down, rebuild it and check all the clearances properly. Pushrods don't bend unless something gets hit. When you mismatch parts, clearances and fitment all need to be checked.
ok i do that and i just go head buy new rocker arms why im add it if you think of anything else let me know thanks
If the valves hit the pistons, they're probably also bent.

List your specs and what you did to the heads.
If you run 1.6 rockers you have enlargen the pushrod holes in the head.
Also if your running a cam over .480 lift, you have to machine down the valve guides. Or the rockers will hit.

Actually, the retainers will hit the top of the guides, not the rockers.Originally Posted by Batass
