so if i were to drop in a carb'd motor
thinking about buying a fast burn 385 to drop in, 425hp, no hassles of fuel injection and computer chips and wiring, etc. Whats involved from going from FI to carb? (removing computer, wiring, fuel pump? regulator?, manual overdrive kit for 700r?, throttle/tranny linkage?)

Pretty much. You don't have to remove the computer, but you can.
There's a tech article on the topic linked from the thirdgen.org homepage.
You'll replace the hassles of FI with the hassles of harder starting, reduced driveability, poorer fuel economy. But, to each his own. The Fast Burn is a great engine.

Re: so if i were to drop in a carb'd motor
I dont have the capability to do chip burning or i'd keep the FI thats what im referring to when i mean hassles. I know carbs, its convenient not to have a comp control the car plus no wires, sensors etc. But what i really want to know is
Throttle linkage- I need to get some kind of bracket for this and the tv cable right?
Fuel pump- Can I just leave my in take fuel pump in? and run a mechanical pump? If theres no need to take it out im leaving it in.
TRANNY- I heard that if I leave my comp in with all the engine stuff disconnected I can still have OD work, or else I have to buy a "lock up kit" ?
FANS- I have dual electric fans, if I leave the comp in they will still work? If not how can I get them to work (not manually)
I searched and read the FAQ's i just have some specific questions i couldnt find definitive answers to.
Any other stuff im going to run into?

You need to get the linkage for the carb you plan on using.... Jegs and Summit should both have it.
Take out the old pump(you have to make a pick-up), and run either a mechanical, or electric meant for carb.... to much pressure will flood it.
The lock-up kit is a must, and if you ever put in a shift kit you may want to think of the corvette servo too.
Painless has a kit just for the cooling fans.... Also carried by Summit and Jegs.
Only things i can really say about the swap are take your time with the wiring, and don't forget ther ground strap at the back of the engine (I learned that last one from experience). It really screws with the electrical.

Its my opinion you can buy a Pentium laptop for a couple hundred, a Moates Ostrich for a couple hundred, and find someone to teach you and you'll save a heck of a lot of time in converting your engine and hoping it works. No idea what a carb swap costs, but it cant be as cheap as learning to tune your own engine. Once you learn how, you can sell your services to other people and tune their cars too, and be their hero.

yeah I was thinking about dropping in this 450-500+hp 406 carbed motor that I couldve got for 1200. But then I figured out what was knocking in my 350HSR and I dropped it in. I wish I had someone that could teach me that kevin! But its just something about carbs just having something thats all mechanical

For performance i'd rather have a carb over FI anyday. If your wanting a weekend warrior go with a hi performance carb engine, if your looking for a daily driver id stick with FI.

instead of droping your fuel pump i believe that you can get a fuel pressure regulator to drop the pressure down so you wont flood your carb, its just something to look into instead of droping your tank and replacing it

I tried 2 different regulators on the same swap, neither worked. After that I put on a holley electric with regulator, and my pressure stayed constant at WOT.
