Are you absolutely sure your battery is fully charged and up to snuff, and the cabling is in good shape?

What's your CR?

Keep hearing the LT1 starter gets the job done (153-tooth flywheel required).

Re: starter wont start new motor

had same issue. my cr is 10.75:1 i used a summit starter. its universal for 153 and 168 flexplates(mine was 168). one thing i promis is that if you dont have a full battery it will be hard as hell to start

I have heard same thing about lt1 starter. i have one sitting around now because i have a 168 toother

Re: starter wont start new motor

check the voltage drop at the cables and starter as you try to start it.if you're dropping by more than 2 vdc ,your cables aren't big enough.
