305 (maybe 350) swap questions
alright, so i went to a Jy and found a great engine, i believe it's a 305, but it may be a 350, the car's almost completely there at the moment, my question is, what should i snag from it? it's an '88 camaro, it's carb'd.. i'd be putting it into a '92 RS that currently is bone stock accept exhaust. should i snag the rear end too? springs? and i want to keep it a manual tranny, would a T-5 work with it? or would a T-56 bolt up to it? the donor car currently has an automatic trans

You'll probably only want the engine. 20 year old stock springs aren't worth the effort. The rear end is weaker than the one you've got now. You can use it with a T5 or a T56.

Re: 305 (maybe 350) swap questions
alright, i heard that GM didn't use the T-5 with a 350 due to it not handleing alot of torque very well, if it is a 305then it won't remain stock it won't be long, i plan on havnig it push out at least 280-320 hp in the very near future. what are the must's that i need to do then to get it road worthy suspension wise?

You don't need to do anything with the suspension, if there's nothing wrong with it now.

I always read that there was nothing that needed to be done suspension wise, but just yesterday i was told that i needed to get stronger springs, and all of that

If your V6 car had air conditioning and auto transmission, and the V8 you swap in doesn't have AC and you use a T5, you probably don't need to replace the front springs. If the V8 has AC and T5, you can probably get by with the V8 springs. You will probably bottom out a lot less with V8 springs.
88's didn't come with a carb. Meaning someone took out the EFI and put a carb on there. Meaning you need to be wary of modifications they thought were "improvements", and of possible abuse.
I'd certainly want to know if it was a 305 or 350. The JY is going to charge you for a 350 if you don't know what you're doing.

My car has a t-5 already, i don't know what trans the car had in it before, i looked and it doens't have a cutout in the floor for the trans... so i'm a little confused on that, there's nothing under there anymore, i'm woundering if my t-5 will bolt up to it or not

Your car has a V6 T5, which is weaker and has different gearing, input shaft and bellhousing than a V8 T5.

alll right, so i'm going to have to find a tranny, too, probely going to be the most expencive, this junkyard i go to has set prices for stuff, no matter what engine you grab, it's $140 flat, i didn't see any camaro's or firebird's with the manual transmission in there, so i'll have to look elsewhere
