Complete 305 TPI motor, 350 shortblock build
Complete 305 TPI motor, 350 shortblock build
So I have been reading and have read that most of the parts on a 305 will work on a 350, awesome. I was thinking of buying a 350 shortblock and making it a complete engine with the parts from my 305. My question is what parts will need modified/replaced to be compatible with the 350? Can I use my existing 305 heads and if so will they work decent and will they need any machining or anything done? Also will i be able to swap over my TPI intake and just put 22# injectors in this engine? A list of parts that won't work/waht parts need modified would be very helpful, I am looking to make this motor in the 350-400 horsepower range (eventually) but I just want to have a running 350 now. I am looking to spend the least amount of money possible, any comments helpful.

What year is your 305 TPI?
If the 350 is the same "era" as your 305, you could just swap out the shortblock.
Larger valves in the 305 heads would help a 350 breath easier. Better cam and valve springs would help even more.
350-400 HP isn't going to happen without extensive modifications.

Re: Complete 305 TPI motor, 350 shortblock build
its gonna be out of a 1991 trans am but the motor is a 1992 i believe cuz the original blew up at 35,000 miles, so everything would bolt right up to the 350 shortblock?
