Re: 351w swap

being serious, I'd like to see you try it. I think it'd prove easier if you use a fabricated tubular crossmember, and while using an automatic would prove easier, I'd like to see you do it with a stick. The '05-up Mustangs come with a hydraulic clutch release setup, and those Shelbys have a very strong T56. I'd like to see you do that, because if I copied you, I'd be using the TR3650, as I'm not shooting for 9s.

Re: 351w swap

blaspheme!!!!!!

aside from that, if the motor does run 9's, in the 1/4? im sure its not a streetable motor, i dont know what you do with the car, but if its not a full on drag car i would pass.

Also, i believe ford motors have the oil pan sump in the front, i dont know how you would make that fit with the k-member without a TON of fab work.

Re: 351w swap

to '86 T/A, yes, most fords were front sump, but the 5.0 mustangs were sort of rear sump, and with a tubular k-member, it'd be easy. Ford Racing themselves, as well as Moroso and Milodon offer pans to put the 351W in the 5.0 mustangs.

Re: 351w swap

probably wouldnt be too hard to fab up an oil pan. Its just a box with one side missing, and holes drilled in on the lip. Gonna have a tough time with the oil pickup though...

Re: 351w swap

i say go for it! i'm not by any stretch of the imagination a ford fan but if you've got a B/A ford motor and want a fast camaro go for it. i've heard rumors of a 351 in tulsa running 10s in the 1/4 sounds pretty cool i cant wait to see the finished product!

Re: 351w swap

A good reason to use existing pans and pickups, and play with the K-member instead. Unlike playing with the pan, playing with the K-member gives a chance to shave 10-40 pounds.
