Cheap (yes) and Easy (huh?)
Ok, so here goes my story. I bought a 1991 Camaro RS for $60. That's not a typo, it's sixty dollars. Now then, I have a friend with a Caddy 500 making 500 hp and is willing to let it go for (surprise) $500. What would it take to get this engine in my new found toy?

Well, since it's been discussed fairly often and actually quite recently, I'd start with a

i tried doing a search and only saw the 454 vs. 500 debate. I know it can be done because there is a guy here with a 472 in his 90 rs. I just want to know about things like kmember, tranny, crossmember, and exhaust.

All the tech help available is in this thread: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...-firebird.html
It will be neither easy nor cheap. Sometimes the most difficult and expensive route is to use what's available and cheap. This is clearly a case in point.
Spend that $500 on a Chevy engine and you'll end up with as much power for a lot less hassle and probably less money.

Re: Cheap (yes) and Easy (huh?)
I appreciate all the input. After reading some tech articles I've decided to go a complete different route. I'm going to continue my Trans Am build and actually gave the Camaro to my wife for a Valentine's Day Gift. She's extremely excited and we've been going over what combo she wants to use. We're thinking now that a mildly built carbbed 350 with a manual (she hate's automatics almost as much as I do) tranny. Of course the rear end will be replaced with something a little stronger. I told her that every holiday she'll get another part (or stack of parts) for her Camaro and she can get me stuff for my Trans Am. Can't wait to get this husband/wife third gen combo on the streets, talk about true love, lol. Once again I appreciate everyone's help on this one.
