i just swapped a 350 into my 92 camaro RS and i need an air cleaner that will clear the hood with an edelbrook intake and a holley carb with an adapter plate. check out the picture, i only have like 2 inches of clearance.

 

If that's a regular Performer, not a Performer RPM, then you can use most any dropped-base 14x3" air cleaner.

 

this might kind of sound of novice but how can i tell if its a performer rpm or just a performer

 

regular performer says edelbrock at the front, down between the water neck and the front intake runners, and performer at the rear. rpm says edelbrock performer rpm at the front atop the front runners.

 

Even with a Performer, will the adapter cause an issue?

The OP doesn't need any adapter for anything related to this. Either intake will accept that carb without any adapter, and no need for any adapter between the carb and the air cleaner.

 

My point was that the adapter would take up space.

P.S. Yes, the OP mentioned one, but did you miss where I told the OP it's not needed?

 

I understand that the adapter's unneeded, but if the OP wishes to keep it, will there be a problem?

i believe james might be talking about the carb adapter to the intake, that adapter make the top of my carb come pretty close to the top off the hood, i was asking if anyone new of an air cleaner that will work. im possitive someone has the same setup as me, its a pretty common one

 

remove the adapter. Unless it's a nitrous plate, it belongs in the trash.
