305 tpi to 350 tpi emissions legal

I have a 87' formula firebird with a MAF 305 H.O. and TPI. the motor is mostly stock with minor mods. I was wondering if it is possible to swap in a 350 while still being able to pass emissions. I am moving to California in 6 months and my car is equiped with California emissions. I don't want to put it in to find out that I have to rip it back out to put my little 305 back in.

Thanks in advance
Dan

As our lame-duck is fond of saying, "Don't ask, don't tell." They won't ask what size it is, you don't tell them it's a 350, it'll pass.

Or, equip it like a 350 TPI and then it is both "technically" legal and "real world" legal. What's the difference between a 305 & 350 TPI? Injector size and knock sensor.

He's right don't ask don't tell. Anyway, a swap from a 305 to 350 is so common that the state of California reconizes the 350 as a common replacement for the 305 and no special actions need to be taken regarding a new emission number for the car. A smog tech (a personal friend)gave me this info. So go ahead and do it you've got nothing to worry about.

As stated above, just install the 350 and you will be fine.
