You need to change everything that's different between TBI and TPI.

That includes the entire induction system, upper radiator and heater hoses, throttle cables, air cleaner system, in-tank electric fuel pump, flexible fuel lines, ECM harness, ECM, knock sensor (and module, depending upon the year of the TPI). TPI also had dual radiator fans (most years).

Have you located a 350 TPI? If so, how complete is it?

Hawks will treat you right.

As for a crate engine, depends. You aren't going to get a TPI set-up with a crate engine. If you stay with TBI on a crate engine, the TBI system is going to need upgrades.

Would it be easier to stay with a tbi setup and a crate engine or should
i go carbed, which is easier?

What are you after? More street legal power?

A 350 TBI can accomplish that. A Hawks 350 TPI pull-out would probably be a lot easier to do (and perhaps less expensive).

There isn't a legal carb that you can install in a 1990 chassis.
