Can you use a old cam?

I can get a cam out of an 87 Lb9 with 100,000 miles that is running good. I have a 92 lo3 tbi engine and I herd that my cam is very small and that lb9 engines that year and up had L98 cams witch was much bigger and better. Can you put an old cam in you car and is it worth the switch? Thanks

yeah you can do it. Provided your not trying to put a roller cam in a non-roller block. Also keep the lifters matched to each cam lobe........BUT.....with so many cam designs and grinds, I really wouldn't mess with a used cam. Yes you'll spend a little more money, but why go through all the work just to stick in a used factory grind. Choice is yours.
