too slow..

hey all-
i bought an 89 RS in January. its was the only one in my price range. its a 6 cyl automatic. i have found that is not going to work for me. what type of engine would you suggest swapping, and how easy is it to convert into a manual. i am looking to spend aroun 1500, maybe a little more. any suggestions/ tips would be greatly appriciated. also if anyone knows anything cheap i can do to the 6 to get some extra performance out of it, thatd be great too. thanks a lot. please respond, im dyin over here.

i recommend a 350 if you up grade your engine but it will cost you more than 1500 depending the way you get it but if you want to fix it up a little i would go the the v6 message bord thay will tell you the best way to get the most out of the money.....hope this helps

D*mn, those 6's are -punchy-! Not to mention better on gas milage than the 8's, and with you living in CA, you might wanna reconsider...

sell your car and buy a 91-92 350 z28. you can even get 94's for not that much.

I agree that if you want an 8, buy a car with one. A while back I was given a 76 Nova with a 305. Now I could have yanked that motor, rebuilt it, built it up, and put it in my Camaro. But EVERYONE I talked to said that with all the money, time and scrounging of parts I would need, I'd be better off buying another Camaro with an 8. Not to mention, I hear Cali is very strict about emissions and motor swaps.

Add my vote for the car-swp suggestion. You'll spend less by far to just get the better car in the first place. Of course, you won't get to have all the fun, but if money is an oblect, you can't beat that route. IMHO there's no realistic way to do a CA-legal 6-cyl to V8 swap for $1500.

Well according to all of the RICERS out there, Honda Civic 6 banger V-CRAP engine puts out "240 horsepower" stock. Of course it does, when the oxygen content is 99% and the engine is cooled by liquid nitrogen.

Sorry, I hate ricers
