305 and 350 TPI Knock Sensor
Can anyone tell me if they are actually different? I have an 86 305 and I am dropping an 86 350 TPI in its place. Are they different? Does anyone know the part number for the 2?
thanks

I Changed from a 305 to 350 in my 91RS and was wondering the same thing. Nobody could give me the part numbers so I left the 305 knock sensor in. Im am not sure if it is causing any problems to the engine, but I am having tempreture problems. Not really sure if this has anything to do with the knock sensor though. I am thinking about changing it but I dont know which one to put in

I cross referenced the numbers and they seem to come up with the same numbers both at the GM dealer and at the local parts stores. So who knows? I would like to know if anybody knows for sure.
What size thermostat are you running? The knock sensor wouldn't/shouldn't have anything to do with heating problems.

Yes the knock sensors are different. Apparently they send a different signal to the computer. there have been some posts on this so you can learn more by checking the archives. the 350 knock sensor that I used is part # 10456288. Comes out of a 89 350 cop car but is the same as many other 350 applications. I understand that the ESC module should be changed too. Prt number 16128261. Good luck..........bob

Due to time constraints I did not change the knock sensor or the harmonic balancer and everything seems to be running fine with 1000 kms on the engine so far.
