Monte Carlo
Monte Carlo
Hey, i just thought i'd mention this, because i haven't seen it on the message board, but does anyone know about swapping the engine from a monte carlo, into a camaro. While i was car shopping, i had stumbled across someone who said this is what he did with his car. It was from something similar to a monte carlo stock car. I couldn't check it out, because i don't have that kind of engine expertise, but what was under the hood didn't look like a camaro engine.... and when it was reved, it certainly didn't sound like a camaro. i thought i was at charlotte motor speedway. basically that's all i wanted to say. even anyone wants to confirm or deny the possibility of this, then that would be great. Thanks

a small block is a small block is a small block. it was probably a high-compression motor, and a camshaft with a lopey idle. not that hard to do. hope this helps

"...something similar to a monte carlo stock car..." could mean almost anything. Like Ace says, you can do a lot to a SBC. I'm sure there are plenty of Camaros out there owned by people on this board that have engines that don't look or sound anything like a factory Camaro engine (I'm sure mine won't sound much like a factory Camaro engine in the very near future).
As for taking a factory Monte Carlo engine and putting it into a Camaro, the exhaust manifolds may be different. As for being a better engine, it's still an LG4 or L69: For reference, a particular low mileage '84 Monte Carlo SS w/305 HO out here is about half a second slower in the quarter than me, and he has the better air cleaner, exhaust, and gears compared to my stock, tired '86 LG4 pieces.
