Time for another rebuild
I'm taking my shortblock back to the machine shop on Monday to get it rebuilt again. This time I'll let them do all the assembly and I'm going to get a set of Merlin heads installed.
I was shopping around and I was really considering getting a ZZ502 (502/502) engine. It would cost me $8500 Canadian (plus tax) for a long block and I could have it in 10 days. I'll rebuild mine plus new heads for about $3-$4000 (guessing, might be closer to $2000)
The ZZ502 would be nice. There's no room for a tall deck block in a third gen if you wish to use Hooker SuperComp headers unless you plan on cutting the floor and frame out for the headers to clear. A tall deck block is .400 taller. Using a big bore 502 block gives more CID with a standard deck height. You can even stroke it to 540 and still have a standard deck height
Maybe when I win the lottery...
