Caddilac Northstar
Caddilac Northstar
Anyone ever tried to swap in a Northstar or it's sister motor, the Aurora? I saw a street rod in Hot Rod magazine with one.
How would you go about this?
Thanks

If you ever try it I would suggest investing in another reliable car to drive during the long process. Talk about asking for trouble. I don't know enough about it to make an educated reply, but man it sounds scary.
few people done it with th700r4 for v6, don't ask me how I don't know !!! the engine is neet , 32 valves but still , put a good 350 and you'll have more power (if you're not thinking about modifing the 32V DOHC engine).

well.. the block is a 60* so the v6 auto will work, if u get it beefed up.

it didn't look like a 60* engine to me. I think it just has the same bolt pattern as v6s since its FWD. 90* is the ideal angle to have a v8, 60* is the ideal angle for v6s, 72* for v12s, and v10s are odd fire so I don't think they have an ideal angle.

I did some looking, and according to a year old issue of Hot Rod, the bolt pattern from a 700-R4 with a 3.1/2.8 V6 is very close to fitting a Northstar. Supposedly, someone (I have no idea who) is coming out with some kind of adaptor for it.
